Bedford Communications Announces Staff Additions and Changes

New York, NY – January 24, 2003 - Bedford Communications, Inc., publisher of LAPTOP, TECH Edge, and PC Upgrade, is pleased to announce the following promotions and additions to its staff.

Mark Spoonauer, Technical Editor for the Bedford titles, has been promoted to Editor in Chief of LAPTOP. His extensive editorial experience in mobile computing and wireless technologies, his reputation in the mobile community, and insight into the future of the field, is providing a platform upon which to take LAPTOP to new heights.

Ben Patterson, the new Managing Editor of TECH Edge, was formerly the Senior Editor for features and special projects at CNET. Prior to that, he was a staff writer at The Reporter, a daily newspaper in northern California, where he covered schools, city government, and courts. He holds a B.A. in English from the University of California, Davis and an M.A. in English from New York University.

Suzanne Markert has joined the editorial team of PC Upgrade as Managing Editor. She was previously an Editorial Project Manager for Scholastic and an Online Managing Editor for a leading travel agency. She received a B.A., B.S. in Magazine/Political Science from Syracuse University.

“We were fortunate enough to have experienced a good year in 2002, which has motivated us to increase the frequency of publication of a number of our titles this year, thereby necessitating a commensurate increase in staffing,” said Publisher Edward Brown. During a challenging period with many companies eliminating existing and new positions, this growth truly is a testament to the quality and strength of Bedford’s titles.

In addition, Matthew Bertz has been promoted from Assistant Editor to Associate Editor for PC Upgrade. David Finck continues as Editor in Chief of TECH Edge and PC Upgrade and Editorial Director of all three titles.
